‘Punto Banco’ is one of the three variants of Baccarat, namely ‘Tout va’, ‘Chemin de Fer‘ and ‘Punto Banco’.
Every player has in front of him two appointed areas to bet either on the player or on the bank.
The dealer draws four cards face downwards, two for the player and two for the bank. The cards have face value; picture cards (jack, queen, king) and 10s are worth zero. The value of a hand is obtained by adding up the value of the cards and if the total is in double figures ten is removed (for example, 8+7=15=5). The player with the highest bet deals first and the game proceeds clockwise. The Casino covers all bets, keeping a 5% house commission (‘cagnotte’) of winnings from stakes laid on the Banker's (Banco) hand, otherwise payments are evens. The table accommodates up to 9 players. The first player to receive the cards is the first to speak. He can decide to draw, in accordance with the rules and his score. The dealer then turns the cards over and according to the rule either draws for the punters or for himself. Scores of eight and nine with the first two cards is a hand known as a ‘natural’ or abatage for both the player and the banker, which means that the player must stand. The dealer must draw a third card if the first two cards total a score of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 e 5, stand if they total a score of 6 or 7, and call a ‘natural’ hand or abatage if he achieves 8 or 9. The banker also calls a natural hand (abatage) with an initial score of 8 or 9, draws a third card with  0, 1 and 2, and always stands with a score of  7; with a score of  3, 4, 5 and 6 the banker must observe the rules in the Table of Play. False draws or any mistakes that may occur when playing a hand should be corrected by reconstructing play according to the rules. Players can also choose to bet on a tie or ‘Egalité’ or ‘en carte’; the Egalité or Tie combination is paid at 8 to 1. Regarding the rules of the game and every other case not hereby specified the decision is made by the General Management.
